First Oklahoma Federal Credit Union has chosen Green Country FCU as our merger partner, a decision rooted in shared values, community focus, and a mutual commitment to serving everyday working Oklahomans.

As First Oklahoma’s Board looked toward the future, we sought a partner with the strength, resources, and member-first culture needed to support their next century of service. After carefully reviewing our options, the Board unanimously selected Green Country FCU.

“We’ve always been a small crew, but we look out for our people,” said Bill Hughart, Chairman of the Board for First Oklahoma FCU. “Partnering with Green Country helps us keep moving forward and gives our members more tools to work with—more services, more access, and more ways to get help with their finances. This is the right step for our members and our future.”

Green Country FCU was chosen because of their long-standing commitment to working families, designation as both a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and Low-Income Designated credit union, executive leadership, and reputation for delivering personal, hometown banking with modern tools and technology.

When approved by First Oklahoma’s membership, our two credit unions will come together to offer:

  • More branch locations across Northeast Oklahoma
  • Broader access to modern digital banking tools
  • More lending options for families and small businesses
  • Continued local decision-making and personalized service

A unified team, with all First Oklahoma employees offered positions

Update as of January 14: The merger vote has passed, and First Oklahoma will be merging with Green Country Federal Credit Union.

This merger allows us to strengthen our financial foundation and make long-overdue improvements — while continuing to serve members without disruption today.

What Matters Most Right Now

  • No immediate changes to accounts, cards, checks, loans, or access
  • Legal merger date: April 1
  • System and technology updates will happen later in 2026, with clear communication well in advance

This approach gives us time to do things the right way — thoughtfully, carefully, and with members in mind. We’ll continue sharing updates as we move forward, and this page will be updated as new information becomes available.

A Combined Vision for Working Oklahoma Families

Both credit unions were built to serve everyday Oklahomans—people who work hard, raise families, and help make our local businesses thrive. By joining together, Green Country FCU and First Oklahoma FCU aim to offer more locations, stronger technology, expanded lending options, and deeper support for small businesses, while keeping local decision-making and member-first service at the heart of everything we do.
