First Oklahoma Federal Credit Union has announced its intent to merge with Green Country Federal Credit Union following approval of the merger plan by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). The proposal now moves forward to a member vote in early 2026.
This partnership represents an exciting new chapter for our members and staff. By joining forces with Green Country (another locally owned, member-focused credit union) we’ll be able to offer more services, improved technology, and greater access across northeastern Oklahoma, all while keeping the personal service and community values that define us.
For more than a century, First Oklahoma has been proud to serve working Oklahomans with honesty and care. Green Country shares that same commitment. Together, we’ll continue to make local decisions, support our communities, and invest in the tools and people who help our members thrive.
If members approve the merger vote in January 2026, the legal merger is expected to take effect in April 2026. No immediate changes will occur for members or accounts, and all staff will remain in place to ensure a smooth transition.
As the process continues, we’ll share regular updates by mail, email, and in branches. We encourage all members to stay informed and participate in the vote, and your voice matters in shaping the future of your credit union.

First Oklahoma’s Board chose Green Country as a merger partner because together, we can serve members better. By joining forces, we’ll have more resources to invest in new technology, expanded services, and staff support. First Oklahoma’s smaller size has made it harder to add certain offerings on its own, and this partnership opens the door to more products, more convenience, and continued personal service — all while keeping the values members have always trusted.
Green Country FCU will be the continuing credit union. But First Oklahoma’s story as Oklahoma’s first credit union will always be part of who we are, and we are committed to honoring that proud tradition and incorporating that strong history into our culture.
